Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (Zesco) has reportedly launched the second phase of its powerline fibre-optic internet cable project, according to ITWeb Africa. Under the project fibre-optic cables are being installed on high voltage power lines with a view to connecting rural towns; areas planned to be covered under phase two including Kasempa, Solwezi, Kaoma and Kalabo. The rollout of the network is expected to allow the provision of broadband services to banks, schools, hospitals, government departments and businesses in the country’s north-western province.
