Angola Telecom on expansion drive

Angola Telecom has announced several recent multi-service launches in its ongoing network expansion campaign which includes extension of services to rural and remote communities. In Chongorio municipality, in central Benguela province, it inaugurated landline and ADSL internet services last Friday, while on the same day it was reported by local news portal Angop that Angola Telecom’s CEO, Joao Adolfo Martins, announced a plan to extend public telephone booths ‘throughout the country.’ The CEO added that the telco’s goal was to reduce access prices so that all citizens may use telecoms services. Also last week Angola Telecom launched its ‘Fale e Navegue’ (‘talk and browse’) voice and ADSL internet connection service in Sumbe (Kwanza Sul province). As part of the announcement, Angola’s Secretary of State for Telecommunications, Aristides Safeka, stressed that the telecoms sector has the objective of providing internet service in every locality of the country, Angop’s report added.
