Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT), the country’s state-owned national PTO, is applying for a licence to provide IPTV services through the VINASAT-2 satellite, which was launched into orbit in May last year. NexTV Asia reports that VNPT, which offers its ‘MyTV’ service through subsidiary Vietnam Software and Media Company (VASC), is seeking around a quarter of the new satellite’s capacity. MyTV currently has around 800,000 subscribers, and VASC is aiming to increase this figure to around one million by the end of the year.
