PLDT’s Smart extends LTE footprint; launches Galaxy S4 LTE plans

26 Apr 2013

Smart Communications, a mobile unit of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), has announced the latest areas to receive its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services, and unveiled a range of tariff plans bundled with the new Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone. The operator is rolling out 4G services to a number of areas outside of Metro Manila, including Ilocos Norte, Tagaytay City, Bohol, Bacolod City, and Davao del Sur. ‘Our LTE service is the only connection that can keep up with the Samsung Galaxy S4’s demands. Not only is Smart LTE faster and more reliable, but it is also the Philippines’ most widely-available LTE service,’ the Manila Standard Today quotes Smart’s Kathy Carag as saying.

Ms Carag went on to say that the cellco has already upgraded or deployed 1,000 LTE cell sites in over 115 cites and municipalities across the country. Some of its more recent LTE launches have taken place in the areas of Robinsons Summit Ridge and Tagaytay Midlands in Tagaytay City, La Salle Dasmarinas in Cavite, Tagbilaran Domestic Airport in Bohol, Laoag International Airport in Ilocos Norte, Robinsons Place in Bacolod City, and SM Lanang Premier in Davao Del Sur, she said.
