VNPT expands international transmission routes

25 Apr 2013

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the country’s state-owned national PTO, has announced that it has put into operation three new international transmission routes, increasing its total international transmission capacity to 185Gbps. The group says it now accounts for 70% of Vietnam’s total international bandwidth capacity. The total capacity of the three new routes is 25Gbps, including 10Gbps through the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable system, a 10Gbps line to the US through the CSC system and 5Gbps to Hong Kong via SeaMeWe-3. By the end of 2013 the company aims to further increase its total international transmission capacity to 215Gbps, which it says will enable it to satisfy the demand for international connections for 65% of internet users in Vietnam.
