Moldovan regulator, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), has announced the approval of Administrative Board Decision No.17 for the implementation of mobile number portability (MNP) in the Republic. Under the decision, mobile network operators working in cooperation with the Centralized Data Base (CDB) administrator, are obliged to ensure the technical launch of MNP by 1 May 2013, and provide the service to commercial customers by 1 July. The initial date for the service deployment was set for 1 May, but was postponed by ANRCETI in the wake of a request from cellcos asking for more time to finalise the necessary modifications to their billing systems for calls to ported numbers.
Mobile providers and the CDB administrator were required to sign the General Agreement, approved by ANRCETI with Decision No.16 (9 April 2013) by 15 April, and to make the necessary adjustments in their own networks to enable the technical launch of MNP services. According to the Technical and Commercial Conditions of the edict, any user will be able to benefit from this service within five working days after submitting a request to their mobile service provider.
