It takes two to Tango: cellco performs ‘first European LTE roaming call’ in Belgium

22 Apr 2013

Luxembourg-based telecoms firm Tango, which is owned by Belgacom, has announced that it has performed what it claims is the ‘first roaming call over 4G in Europe’. The test was conducted in neighbouring Belgium over the network of its sister company Proximus, which is Belgium’s largest cellco by subscribers.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Tango launched Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology on a commercial basis in October 2012, with Proximus following suit a month later.
