China Mobile, the world’s largest cellco by subscribers, is expected to launch a tender for CNY20 billion (USD3.2 billion) worth of key Time Division Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) equipment in May, in preparation for expanding its 4G trials, Marbridge Consulting writes, citing an industry source. The operator is expected to invest some CNY41.7 billion in 4G in 2013, including the installation of 200,000 4G-enabled base stations, extending coverage to more than 100 cities. China Mobile is reportedly concentrating on the 1880MHz-1920MHz band for TD-LTE development.
