18 Apr 2013

Madagascan telecoms firm Telecom Malagasy (Telma) has enlisted US investment bank Lazard to explore a number of sale options, including a complete disposal of its business and the divestment of its tower portfolio. TMT Finance reports that around 500 Telma Mobile cell towers have been made available, and are valued at between USD50 million and USD70 million. To that end, discussions are already underway with a number of towercos. Telma itself is valued at around USD500 million, although it is believed that the Hiridjee family is keen to retain a stake in the telco.
