LTT WiMAX subscribers vulnerable after hack attack

15 Apr 2013

The Libya Herald reports local IT specialists as suggesting that servers belonging to state-backed Libya Telecom and Technology (LTT) have been hacked, making its estimated 350,000 customer accounts – including those of government ministries – vulnerable. Boasting only the most rudimentary security measures, LTT’s servers have been attacked numerous times since 2011. Further, the hacking fraternity is now starting to go public with claims about LTT’s vulnerability, to try and force the internet service provider (ISP) to improve its services. One hacker even went as far as posting a seven-minute video on YouTube, purportedly giving a step-by-step guide on how to break into an LTT server.
