Delhi court extends ruling to Vodafone and Idea

15 Apr 2013

The Delhi High Court has extended a ban on signing up new 3G subscribers outside of licensed areas to Idea Cellular and Vodafone, after an order to that effect was issued to Bharti Airtel by the Supreme Court last week, local news portal reports. The ruling allows all three operators to continue offering 3G services via roaming agreements, but prevents them from signing up new users to the service. Further, the court has blocked regulators from taking any coercive action against the operators in relation to the matter. Idea and Vodafone are set to appear before the court in mid-July.
