Spanish cableco Grupo Corporativo ONO has announced that it has reached a significant milestone in its aim to become a fully convergent operator, revealing that it now has 500,000 mobile voice customers on its books. As noted in TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, ONO inaugurated mobile voice services as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) using the network of Movistar in September 2009. In confirming that it had reached half a million subscribers, the cableco highlighted the fact that it had seen customer numbers increase by around 160% year-on-year; it attributed such growth to the wide range of tariffs that if offers, particularly those that bundle its pay-TV, fixed line broadband and voice services.
