Brazilian telecoms operator Telefonica (Vivo) has reportedly emerged successful from a recent 3G auction to find a company to provide mobile coverage in ten rural districts of the state of Espirito Santo, Telecompaper reports. The auction, which was held by the Department of Agriculture, Food Supply, Aquaculture and Fisheries, is designed to put in place a pilot project to promote the rollout of mobile base stations in the localities of Pacotuba, Pedra Menina, Corrego Moacir, Conceicao do Muqui, Vinhatico, Laginha de Pancas, Vila Verde, Sao Jorge Tiradentes, Barra do Mangarai and Garrafao, the paper says. The scheme offered a tax incentive to the winning operator, which now has 180 days to install ten antennas from the publication date of the contract in the Official Gazette. As such, Telefonica (Vivo) is set to receive a tax incentive of a maximum BRL300 (USD161) per location, it said.
