Moldova’s third largest mobile operator, Moldtelecom, says it has launched HSPA+ services offering customers theoretical speeds of up to 42Mbps under the company’s ‘Unite’ brand. The cellco says that the offering is available to ‘almost the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova’. Moldtelecom launched an EV-DO-based 3G service offering speeds of up to 2.4Mbps under the Unite brand in 2007, before upgrading to W-CDMA-based 14.4Mbps in 2010. It claims to have over 300,000 subscribers, of which 50,000 are mobile internet users via 3G modems.
