Desert sessions: Verizon completes Mohave Cellular deal

2 Apr 2013

Verizon Wireless has announced that it has completed its purchase of partnership interests in Mohave Cellular Limited from Frontier Communications and Rio Virgin Telephone. Although financial terms have not been disclosed, Verizon Wireless now owns 100% of Mohave Wireless. In operational terms, the transaction will expand Verizon’s footprint in northwest Arizona. Mohave Wireless’ spectrum licence and operations cover a population of 203,000 outside Las Vegas, and the company’s 3G EV-DO network will be integrated with Verizon’s infrastructure ahead of a mooted Long Term Evolution (LTE) deployment. In the short-term Verizon Wireless will serve Mohave Wireless customers using the existing brand name, but a full network integration is earmarked for completion by early 2014.
