NCA says no LTE in near future

Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) has told Citi Business News that it will not be issuing Long Term Evolution (LTE) concessions in the near future. According to the watchdog’s acting deputy director general, Albert Enninful, operators must first focus on developing 3G services before implementing LTE. The regulator has, however, recently issued three technology-neutral broadband wireless access (BWA) licences in the 2500MHz to 2690MHz band that allow for the provision of 4G services. The companies to receive the BWA concessions were Surf Line, Gold Key Properties and G-Kwik net.
