Orange shoots down rumours of sale

Polish fixed line incumbent Orange Poland, previously known as Telekomunikacja Polska, has denied rumours that it was intending to sell off its fixed line operations, ending speculation that the telco would dispose of the business to concentrate on the wireless market. Reuters quotes Wojciech Jabczynski, a spokesperson for the company, as saying: ‘We are not bracing for a sale of our fixed line segment. Neither are we choosing an adviser for such a transaction.’ The announcement followed a report in local daily Gazeta Prawna, which cited unnamed sources as saying that the France Telecom subsidiary had hired a consulting firm to weigh up its options.
