Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings (HTHKH) has announced its financial and operational results for the year ended 31 December 2012. Consolidated turnover rose 16% from HKD13.407 billion (USD1.727 billion) in 2011 to HKD15.536 billion in 2012. Consolidated EBITDA also increased by 16%, from HKD2.611 billion to HKD3.020 billion in the full year. Consolidated EBIT increased 21% from HKD1.432 billion to HKD1.738 billion, while net profit attributable to shareholders rose 20% from HKD1.020 billion in 2011 to HKD1.227 billion in 2012.
HTHKH’s mobile division (covering Hong Kong and Macau) reported that turnover increased 19% to HKD12.383 billion in the twelve-month period, largely driven by ‘overwhelming’ demand for smart devices and data services. EBITDA and EBIT increased to HKD2.100 billion and HKD1.485 billion, reflecting growth of 23% and 25% respectively. Hong Kong and Macau mobile customers reached a total of over 3.7 million at end-December 2012, while post-paid 3G and 4G customers accounted for 94% of the post-paid customer base. Blended post-paid ARPU rose 7% to HKD261; Hong Kong-only blended post-paid ARPU increased by 8% to HKD264.
Turnover of the group’s fixed line operations showed a 7% increase to HKD3.640 billion in 2012. The carrier market contributed more than half of the total
revenue, representing a rise of 10% to HKD1.958 billion. Revenue from the corporate and business market increased 6% to HKD891 million in 2012 from HKD840 million in 2011. Revenue from the residential market in 2012 was HKD584 million, compared to HKD583 million the previous year.
