The Telecommunications Operator Tender Evaluation and Selection Committee of Myanmar has announced that it has received more than 90 expressions of interest (EoI) from telcos or groups seeking to apply for a mobile concession there. The deadline for initial EoI has now passed, and operators have until 4 April to prepare formal submissions. The committee will announce which operators passed pre-qualification one week later. According to the Myanmar Times, applicants should have at least four million subscribers in one or more countries and generate annual gross revenues of at least USD400 million, or hold a minimum 50.1% stake in an operator that meets those requirements. Operators are also encouraged to partner with a Myanmar-based company, although this is not a formal requirement.
