Malaysia’s DiGi Telecommunications is understood to be modernising its entire mobile network – which comprises close to 6,000 sites across the country – while it also expects to expand 3G coverage to 75% of populated areas by the end of 2013. According to the Star Online, which cites the operator’s chief technology officer Ole Martin Gunhildsbu, the cellco has said processes are in place to continuously measure and monitor the quality of its network, and that its performance metrics were monitored closely. ‘We have seen significant quality improvements over the last six months in all areas where we have completed network upgrades; these include a steady decline in incidences of dropped calls, consistency in data setup success rates, and the lowest volume of complaints from our customers,’ Gunhildsbu said.
