4G launch drives 6.5% revenue growth

7 Mar 2013

Belgian-backed wireless and fixed line service provider Tango booked a 6.5% year-on-year increase in revenues for the twelve months to end-2012 to EUR114 million (USD148.59 million). Rising revenues were driven by an increase in monthly ARPU to EUR29.5 from EUR28.1 in 2011, combined with a 2.7% surge in active mobile subscribers to 271,000. Tango attributed the ARPU growth to subscribers moving from pre- to post-paid plans, a trend it encouraged with handset promotions offering iPhone and Samsung devices, and boosted further by the cellco’s launch of 4G services in October 2012.

Commenting on the results, Tango CEO Didier Rouma said: ‘I’m very satisfied with Tango’s full-year 2012 financial results. They prove that our innovation and diversification strategy is bearing fruit. The launch of our 4G offers in the beginning of October enabled us to benefit from a competitive advantage on the market. Our strategy of diversifying towards an offer enhanced by entertainment continued end-2012 with the successful launch of our tango generation TV offer. The quality and content of the tango generation TV offer allows Tango to position itself as a true alternative on the quadruple-play market in Luxembourg.’
