Datagroup deploys 100G, new international links

1 Mar 2013

Ukrainian fixed line and data services operator Datagroup has selected Ekinops’ 100Gbps systems for deployment across its domestic long-distance transmission network. Datagroup said it was seeking a solution that offered a cost-effective upgrade path to higher capacity and faster network speeds across its trans-Ukrainian network, and had performed extensive testing of the Ekinops system to assess its performance and compatibility with its installed base of 10Gbps equipment. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database says that Datagroup – which claims to be the country’s leader in providing data transmission services for corporate clients – operates a DWDM-based fibre-optic trunk network measuring at least 11,270km and connecting more than 50 Ukrainian cities.

This week Datagroup also switched on two new international links – one 100Gbps route between Kiev, Lviv, Bratislava (Slovakia) and Frankfurt (Germany) and a second 100Gbps link between Kiev and Moscow which will be expanded to 250Gbps later this year to provide redundancy for the operator’s first 250Gbps route between the two capital cities established in 2011.
