27 Feb 2013

MetroPCS chairman and CEO Roger Linquist has indicated that the company’s Long Term Evolution (LTE) subscriber base has topped three million, and now accounts for around 35% of the company’s overall customer base; the company reported 2.2 million LTE customers at 31 December 2012. MetroPCS, which pre-reported its fourth quarter earnings in January, has reiterated that subscriber base suffered a net loss of 93,237 customers during the three-month period ended 31 December 2012. The reduction saw the cellco’s annual subscriber total decrease to 8.888 million, from 9.347 million a year earlier.

In financial terms the cellco, which is in the process of merging with larger rival T-Mobile USA, reported consolidated annual revenues of USD5.1 billion for FY2012, an increase of 5% year-on-year. Operating income grew 10% to USD824 million, while the company reported adjusted EBITDA of over USD1.5 billion, an increase of 14% y-o-y, and the highest adjusted EBITDA so far in the company’s history.
