Vodafone Hungary dismisses government takeover plan as ‘false’

Janos Suba, Vodafone Hungary’s director of communications has dismissed as ‘false’ a report claiming that the government of Hungary is considering a plan to take control of the mobile operator. In an emailed statement to Portfolio.hu which carried the original article, the official said the report lacked ‘either rational sense or correctness’. Yesterday, the online journal claimed that Budapest was working on a plan to take full control of Vodafone’s Hungarian business, with some unnamed sources claiming that an agreement was imminent.
