DoCoMo Pacific, a subsidiary of Japanese telecoms company NTT DoCoMo, has selected Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) as the sole supplier for an end-to-end 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Guam. The Finnish vendor implemented its energy-efficient Single Radio Access Network (RAN) solution with high-capacity Flexi Multiradio Base Stations, and also upgraded its NetAct network management system to enable consolidated and effective monitoring, management and optimisation of DoCoMo Pacific’s network. Previously, NSN was chosen by DoCoMo Pacific for the rollout of its GSM/EDGE, 3G and HSPA+ networks. ‘The HSPA+ and LTE complementary technologies assure faster mobile broadband speed throughout Guam even as the subscribers move in and out of LTE coverage,’ said Jay Shedd, president and CEO at DoCoMo Pacific, adding: ‘With the LTE implementation, we offer the largest and most up-to-date selection of 4G LTE devices on Guam. And subscribers can now connect to a much wider array of devices for higher-quality video and new applications.’
