15 Feb 2013

National fixed line incumbent Telecom New Zealand plans to launch services based on the government’s ultra-fast broadband (UFB) network in March, although trials have encountered a number of problems. News portal Business Day cites the telco’s CEO Simon Moutter as saying that there were still a number of issues to be ironed out before the telco could guarantee a smooth connection.

In related news, Telecompaper writes that internet service provider (ISP) Orcon has boosted the coverage of its UFB services to 17 cities, adding Invercargill, Wanganui, New Plymouth and Tauranga.
