Tea to sell off Mantuan fibre-optic infrastructure

15 Feb 2013

Mantua-based multi-utility operator Tea has revealed that it is to sell of its fibre-optic infrastructure in the city as part of a strategy under which the company aims to rationalise the number of assets it manages. Having received board approval to limit its focus to the energy, environment and water sectors, Tea has confirmed that the fibre infrastructure – which comprises more than 129km of cable – will be divested. The infrastructure was initially launched in 2005, and today passes more than 60% of the premises in Mantua, and Tea currently offers connectivity to both local and national telcos.

Local press reports meanwhile have claimed that Tea has invited major national operators to express their interest in a possible acquisition of the network, with Corriere Comunicazioni claiming that a number have already done so.
