India’s Supreme Court has ruled that all spectrum vacated by operators as part of its cancellation of 122 concessions in February 2012 must be put up for sale in the upcoming auctions. The Economic Times writes that the apex court also instructed all cellcos that had been given permission to continue providing services until 4 February must cease operations unless they intend to bid for spectrum in the 11 March auction. The ruling will allow Russian-backed cellco Sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL) to continue operating until March, after the operator chose not to participate in the spectrum auction in November 2012.
