Hong Kong’s PCCW Global and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Vietnam’s state-owned national PTO, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form a strategic cooperation to explore business opportunities in southeast Asia and beyond. In a company press release, PCCW said the agreement serves to accelerate the development of bilateral cooperation between the two firms through collaboration in the delivery of a range of services, such as internet, satellite, voice, data, fixed line, mobile, multimedia and IT solutions. The pair will also share experience in developing content services and value-added services. Commenting on the agreement, Stephen Pang, PCCW Global’s senior vice president of Asia and CIS, said: ‘PCCW Global is excited to jointly explore telecommunications opportunities with VNPT. This new cooperation combines the strengths and resources of both companies. It helps us deliver a seamless ICT service for our clients in Vietnam, and allows us to fully support VNPT as its customers enter into new markets.’ PCCW Global is an operating division of Hong Kong Telecommunications Limited (HKT), the Special Administrative Region’s dominant telecoms service provider, which is itself majority-owned by PCCW Limited.
