Axtel launches IPTV in three cities

31 Jan 2013

Mexican telco Axtel has announced the launch of IPTV services over its fibre-optic network in three cities, those being Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. Offered under the ‘Axtel TV’ banner, the service is understood to be supported by Axtel’s technological partner, Swedish vendor Ericsson. Looking ahead, the Mexican operator has said it intends to expand the coverage area for the new pay-TV offering, though it has not revealed the names of locations where it plans to launch, nor has it provided a timeframe for such a development.

Prices for the new service start from MXN514 (USD40) per month for the ‘Basico’ package, which offers 50 television channels, including four in high-definition (HD), while the top-end service, ‘Total’, will give access to 85 channels, with eight of those broadcasting in HD.
