The 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network of Vodafone Germany now covers around 90% of households in Munich, the capital of the federal state of Bavaria, reports Telecom Handel. The UK-owned mobile operator has upgraded around 4,500 base stations to LTE technology, providing coverage to around 60% of the German territory. By the end of March Vodafone’s 4G network will be available in all 81 of the country’s cities with over 100,000 inhabitants, up from the current figure of 71. At the same time, the network rollout will increase the number of people covered by 4G services from 40 million to 50 million across Germany. Vodafone is aiming for nationwide LTE coverage by the end of 2015.
