Mali has a new commercial WiMAX operator, with Dogon Telecom having launched services in the capital Bamako late last week. As reported by Le Republicain, the venture is the brainchild of Abdoulaye Guindo, a Malian expatriate living in Japan, and services were launched at a ceremony chaired by head of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Tiegoum Boubeye Maiga. With coverage initially limited to the ‘left bank’ of the capital, Mr Guindo said that his company is aiming to expand across the entire city.
