Colombian state-owned broadband provider Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota (ETB) will roll out a fibre-optic network covering 85% of homes in Bogota by 2015, TeleSemana reports, citing ETB chairman Saul Kattan. The company is investing funds raised by the issuance of bonds to finance a ten-year strategy, which will eventually connect all domiciles in the capital to the company’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network. ETB’s new network has also been earmarked for other municipal projects, including the modernisation of the city’s traffic light, traffic surveillance camera and parking meter systems.
