According to local newspaper Les Echos, Iliad’s wireless operator Free has been ordered to pay EUR300,000 (USD400,500) for slander after a court rejected its claim that SFR was conducting an ‘unfair and misleading practice’ by selling subsidised phones. Free, which had been claiming EUR29 million in damages, suggested last May that SFR was hiding the true cost of handsets by forcing them into long contracts.
