Mobily signs network expansion deals with Ericsson and Huawei

Saudi Arabian operator Mobily has awarded contracts worth up to USD256 million to Ericsson and Huawei for the expansion and development of its 3G W-CDMA and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. ‘As per the signed contracts, the duration of implementing these huge projects is one year, and we expect to complete all expansion and upgrade operations during the first half of the year,’ said Mobily CEO Khalid Al-Kaf. Mobily’s 3G coverage currently stands at 96% of the population, while its LTE network covers more than 33 cities.
