Domestically-owned Venezuelan mobile operator Digitel has set a CAPEX investment budget of USD268 million for its infrastructure in 2013, nearly 70% more than this year, according to a report by El Nacional, cited by Telecompaper. The operator plans to add 1,350km of fibre in 2013, as well as launching 4G LTE services in the recently licensed 1800MHz frequency band in the first half of the year. The increased CAPEX is aimed at winning back market share percentage recently lost to bigger rivals Movilnet and Movistar, according to Digitel sales vice president Luis Bernardo Perez.
