Rostelecom testing 3G network in St Petersburg

Russian national operator Rostelecom is reportedly testing parts of its 3G network in St Petersburg. Network equipment has been supplied by vendors Huawei and Ericsson, while the launch of commercial services is earmarked to take place between April and June 2013.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, last month Rostelecom inaugurated commercial HSPA+ services in the Irkutsk region, through its subsidiary, Baikalwestcom. As previously stated, the telco is planning to launch 3G services in 26 Russian regions in 2013.
