Claro Colombia to launch mobile money service

Claro Colombia, the Colombian wireless unit of Mexico’s America Movil (AM), has signed an agreement with four banks to launch mobile money services, TeleSemana reports. The new offering will allow the cellco’s customers to pay bills, deposit funds and transfer funds via their phones. Initially, the service will only be available via the AV Vilas Bank, with the Bank of Bogota, Citibank, Western Bank and Popular Bank joining the scheme during the first half of 2013.
