Vodafone launches 4G mobile broadband plan, introducing LTE USB modem

18 Dec 2012

Vodafone Greece yesterday announced the launch of a mobile broadband package providing 20GB of data per month for laptops and tablets, to cater for the demands of 4G LTE network users. The package, with double the monthly allowance of its previous top-tier consumer 10GB mobile broadband plan, costs EUR50 (USD65.80), and allows users with a compatible device to access Vodafone’s in-deployment LTE network. TeleGeography notes that in late-October 2012 Vodafone began providing ‘commercial demo’ access to its 1800MHz 4G network in selected localities around the capital Athens, while it currently offers the ‘R210 Mi-Fi’ portable Wi-Fi hotspot modem device for sale to users wanting LTE speeds. Alongside the announcement of the 20GB data package yesterday, Vodafone also placed an additional 4G-compatible device, the ‘K5006-Z’ USB modem, on its customer website, although currently labeled as available ‘soon’. Vodafone also announced that it will soon expand its 4G network to Greece’s second city Thessaloniki.
