18 Dec 2012

Norwegian telecoms giant Telenor has inked a global framework contract with Japan’s NEC under which the latter will provide its compact microwave communications system. Under the terms of the deal, NEC will supply Telenor with its iPASOLINK series system, including the ‘5000ips’ long-haul, large capacity microwave system and related services such as installation and commissioning. The contract is understood to cover all eleven of Telenor’s subsidiaries, and commenting on the deal, NEC senior vice-president Takayuki Morita said: ‘We are proud that since 2006, NEC is the only supplier that has continuously maintained a framework contract with Telenor for the supply of microwave systems … This new agreement reaffirms our close relationship and NEC’s full support for the continued evolution of Telenor’s network.’
