The Japanese mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Japan Communications Inc (JCI) has launched a new 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Wi-Fi router. The new router costs JPY2,980 (USD36.16) a month and includes 2GB of data usage. It can handle up to ten simultaneous Wi-Fi connections. Earlier this week, JCI, which operates under the ‘b-mobile’ banner, filed a complaint with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) over the fees charged by its wholesale provider NTT DoCoMo for access to data services. JCI has complained that DoCoMo is charging up to three times the fees that other operators are asking. DoCoMo has responded by claiming that its fees are calculated within guidelines set down by the MIC.
