ATCI confirms 89.2% of SIM cards have been registered

Diemeleou Bile, the director general of L’Agence des Telecommunications de Cote d’Ivoire (ATCI), has announced that a total of 16.168 million mobile subscribers have registered their SIM cards, ahead of the 31 December 2012 deadline. Agence Ecofin reports that this figure is equivalent to around 89.18% of the country’s 18 million-plus mobile users. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, a total of six operators are currently active in the Ivorian wireless sector, namely: MTN, Orange, Moov, Comium (Koz), GreenN Cote d’Ivoire (formerly Oricel) and Aircom.
