30 Nov 2012

South-east Asia’s largest telecoms group Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has launched a next generation carrier Ethernet network. The telco is claiming a first for the Asia-Pacific region with its deployment of multiprotocol label switching transport profile (MPLS-TP) technology for its ‘ConnectPlus E-Line’ service, which will provide its says, multinational customers with scalable ultra-high speed internet access across the globe. The city-state operator is using Cisco-supplied MPLS-TP carrier packet technologies for the next generation network, which deliver up to 10Gbps to support bandwidth-intensive applications with high service reliability across its global offices. In the next twelve months, SingTel intends to use the new platform to deliver dedicated point-to-multipoint and electronic bandwidth-on-demand (eBOD) for its ConnectPlus E-Line customers.
