Orange Dominicana’s LTE network still suspended

29 Nov 2012

The Dominican Republic’s telecoms regulator Indotel has upheld a suspension of the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless service offered by cellular operator Orange Dominicana. According to a report from TeleSemana, the regulator was happy with the level of service being offered over the LTE network, but it is maintaining the suspension of services because the operator failed to carry out the necessary technical studies before launching a commercial service earlier this year. The 4G network was unveiled in July this year, but has been out of action since mid-August. Orange has said that it is working with authorities to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
