ZTE trials eSRVCC VoLTE in Hong Kong

27 Nov 2012

ZTE Corp has launched a commercial trial of Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) with enhanced single radio voice call continuity (eSRVCC) in Hong Kong, an alternative to Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB), claiming an industry-first deployment. ZTE’s press release says that eSRVCC is a solution enabling higher quality voice calls while a mobile network is upgrading to LTE and provides end-to-end quality-of-service (QoS) assurance. ZTE’s core network vice president Tu Jiashun said that ‘eSRVCC VoLTE improves call connection time when compared to CSFB solution and shortens handover time when compared to SRVCC solution. It gives LTE users more options and better service experience.’
