SFR to cut around 10% of its workforce

27 Nov 2012

French newspaper Les Echos reports that SFR will announce the loss of around 1,100 jobs, around 10% of the company’s workforce, later this week. The move comes as SFR seeks to cut costs amid a fiercely competitive French mobile market, following the launch of Iliad-backed Free Mobile in January of this year. The redundancies are expected to be phased in over an 18 month period, but may be partly offset by the creation of 300 new retail sales jobs.
