According to an unconfirmed report by Vedomosti, Swedish-owned mobile operator Tele2 Russia and state-owned national operator Rostelecom have renewed previously rumoured discussions regarding a merger of their collective mobile assets into a combined entity initially controlled by Tele2. However, according to a scheme proposed by Rostelecom, the government would retain the option to buy out Tele2 after a three-year grace period. The Swedish company has reportedly enlisted Morgan Stanley to advise on the possible deal.
