TRA speeds up release of 2.5GHz-2.6GHz bands

20 Nov 2012

The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Bahrain has issued a statement saying that progress in the release of spectrum in the bands 2500MHz–2570MHz and 2620MHz–2690MHz has been speedier than originally envisaged. As a result the Authority is able to release the entirety of the 2×70MHz 4G bands to the winner(s) of the licence award process envisaged to be conducted by Q1 2013, immediately after the process has concluded. Previously, the TRA said that 2×40MHz would be immediately available for use, with the remaining 2×30MHz tranche to become effective in Q4 2014.
