Tower Bersama eyes Cambodian mobile towers?

20 Nov 2012

Telecoms infrastructure firm Tower Bersama is reportedly holding talks with CamGSM (Mobitel) to acquire the Cambodian wireless operator’s tower assets, TMT Finance cites an unnamed source as saying. The potential move follows Tower Bersama’s acquisition of 2,500 mobile towers from Indonesian operator PT Indosat in August this year for USD406 million. CamGSM, the country’s third largest mobile operator, is wholly owned by the Royal Group of Cambodia, which increased its shareholding in the cellco to 100% after acquiring the 58.4% it did not already own from Luxembourg’s Millicom International Cellular (MIC) for USD346 million in November 2009.
