The government of Zimbabwe is planning a major investment in fibre infrastructure next year as it looks to boost internet connectivity across the country. Presenting the 2013 budget, finance minister Tendai Biti said that the government will target completion of the Bulawayo–Beitbridge and Bulawayo–Victoria Falls fibre-optic links via state-owned fixed line operator TelOne, BizTechAfrica reports. ‘With better ICT infrastructure, the potential for innovation, economic development and better public service delivery in the country become possible,’ Biti said.
